Manufacturers planned ahead at CHA Winter to provide this fun and timely project we want to share with you. Follow along this step-out to make a Spring Matchbook Album perfect for a card, invitation, gift tag, or favor this season.

The papers, stickers, and bottle cap used in this project are from Design Originals and demonstrated by Debra Rohlfing.

Supplies needed:
Flutterby Tiles Patterned Paper
Flutterby Lime Dots Patterned Paper
Flutterby Stripe Patterned Paper
Stamps Patterned Paper
Flutterby Postale Stickers
Flutterby Rounds Stickers
Pink Ribbon
Bottle Cap
Circle Punch
Staples
Glue Stick
Foam Square

Start your album by folding the edge of a 4” x 8” strip of the Stamps paper ¼” inward so the stamp images are on the inside. The purple side of the Stamps paper will be the cover for the album. Fold the paper so that the top edge can be tucked into the folded edge.

Next, fold a 3” x 9” strip of the Lime Dots paper evenly in thirds to create a 3” x 3” square. For an even fold, use the side of your hand and slowly slide it across the paper. Punch a half-circle into one of the open edges of paper. This will be the pocket to hold the album in. Be sure to punch the open edge and not the folded edge in this step. Glue the last folded flap to close the pocket.

Insert the pocket into the folded part of the Stamps paper from the first step. Make sure the pocket fits snugly into the fold. Staple the pocket and the fold with two staples.

Cut two strips of the Flutterby Tiles paper each with four square tiles. Fold the end squares towards the center and glue them down. Repeat for the second strip. These will be the actual pages of your album.

Put the glued tiles together so you have four pages. Tie a piece of ribbon around the spine of the pages and make a bow in the back. Decorate the pages and pocket with the Flutterby Postale Stickers. Insert the album into the Lime Dots pocket and tuck the envelope closed.

To create the decorative bottle cap, place the bottle cap between two marble slabs and run it through a Sizzix machine to flatten. Place a Flutterby Rounds Sticker in the center of the colored side of the cap.

Cut a 10” x 1” strip of the Flutterby Stripe paper. Loosely fold the strip around the middle of the envelope. The strip will need to easily slide off the envelope so the reader can see inside. Glue the ends of the strip together. Attach the bottle cap to the front of the strip (whichever side hides the glued edges) with a foam square.

You now have a matchbook album that only took a few minutes to make. Light up someone’s day with these cheerful little keepsakes.
