Before you begin, protect your work surface with a large sheet of paper or newspaper. You will be spraying, spreading, and stamping paint throughout this project. Ghumm suggests using plain white paper because as you work on the various tags the colors will mix and you may end up with another piece of art to use for future projects.
Let’s get started. First, squeeze four thin lines of paint across the tag. Using a small foam square, spread the paint on the tag with long strokes. You will then have a smoothly painted background as shown.
Add a contrasting color by squeezing a very small amount of paint on the tag. Blend in the same way you did the first color. Let the tag dry for a few seconds.
Spray the tag randomly with the Color Wash. Blend the spray in with the foam as before.
Stamp flowers onto tag with archival ink. Clean the stamp and set the tag aside to dry.
Now it is time to decorate the tag topper. Start with a strip of white cotton fabric. Other fabrics like linen or ribbon can be used but the cotton soaks in the color best and dries quickly.
Spray the fabric strip with Color Wash. To save time, dry the strip with a heat tool. If you are making several tags, spray all of the strips and dry them together.
When the strip is dry, string it through the tag hole and knot together.
