What's old is what's new in scrapbooking. Old-fashioned page enhancements, old time photos with fresh new faces in black and white and sepia tones. FoofaLa features many products that capture the look of days gone by. Intriguing embellishments, old-fashioned post, metal shapes and more. Different sized Tags to Go Sets with coordinating patterned themes including old french verbage, old ledger, stripes, tea stained and paper petticoats provide the perfect flair for vintage chic. One technique we are known for is aging these tags with inks, tea staining or walnut ink. The simplest method for aging tags is done with a Nick Bantock Van Dyke Brown inkpad (Ranger Ind.) and our cotton Aging Sponge. It's just the FoofaLa way. Check out this technique and try it for yourself.
Aged to Perfection1. Tear or cut the top off of one tag and edge the bottom with inkpad and sponge. Just slide sponge over inkpad and then rub the sponge over the bottom of the tag. FoofaLa carries great tag sets that make selecting colors and styles easy when mixing and matching tags for this technique.
2. Adhere this tag topper to the top of a second tag.
3. Edge the sides of this tag as well.
Other Aging Variations:1. Wrinkle the tag up in the palm of your hand and flatten it back out again. Run the inkpad over the sides of the tag and then also over the top of the tag. Now the wrinkled are darker and more pronounced.
2. Brew a batch of really really strong tea. Paint it over paper, tag or FoofaBet. A watercolor brush works well... but in all honesty, so does a children's paintbrush, or even a cotton swab! Drip tea droplets over the paper and let them sit a while. The longer the tea sits on the paper, the stronger the stain. Experiment with different brands or flavors of tea to create a beautiful range of colors.
3. Walnut inking is another wonderful way to age papers. Like tea, you can control the strength of the stain depending on the ratio of walnut ink crystals and water. This ink produces a deeper, richer color that is equally fun to use in the same manner as tea. Try splattering it over paper, tags, or FoofaBets.
Small dimensional embellishments add such style and uniqueness to layouts and artwork. Our new flexible microscope slides to give focus to artwork. They don't break, they are people safe (no chipping or cracking!), and the best part is you can punch a hole in them to add an eyelet. In the charming layout entitled "What I See in You", notice the little round dangling Penny Bobs. We fell in love with the size, the flatness and the words imprinted in them. The charms are named after a quote often heard while living in the south, "Honey, I just love your ear bobs." My Momma called them earrings, but ear bobs are more fun! While these are not earrings, they are "Bobs" and we carry Penny Bobs, Nickel Bobs and Old Gold Bobs.
