This layout documents the first time my daughter competed in a running race for kids. The title is also the name of the race. We were living in CT at the time and found the cold weather a hard thing to deal with when planning what she should wear! The design of this layout could easily be altered to suit any event with multiple photos such as a birthday party, zoo outing, day at the park, etc... I wanted to show several aspects of the race, so I narrowed my photo choices to show the most significant parts of the event.

The layout is for my partner, Norman, who is a skateboarder. He skates whenever he gets the chance - at the university campus, on side streets and even ollies on the rooftop of his office building during lunch break. For Norman, the ability to master difficult and dangerous tricks is what makes skateboarding an extreme sport.

Recently I have discovered how much I enjoy smaller layouts, especially 8.5 x 11 inches. I don’t have that feeling that I need to fill in all of the empty spaces. My style is to focus on the picture or story, not the embellishments, so I find smaller layouts easier. This layout was created to remember how excited my husband was to finally be able to take our children to a hockey game, one of the things he’s been waiting for our children to be old enough to remember the game. He bought them both new hockey jerseys and we all had a blast! I saved the game tickets knowing I would be doing a layout…of course!

My style is basic and simple. I usually reach for scraps of paper and unusual embellishments first. I love stars and arrows so it’s not unusual to find at least one of those items on my layouts. Kraft cardstock from Bazzill is typically the base for all my layouts since it goes so well with almost everything. This layout shows off my son Michael at the 2007 US Fencing North American Cup Tournament. Since there aren’t any fencing sport scrapbook embellishments on the market, I’m forced to be creative. I love that!
