When I scrapbook, I try different things. Some pages and layouts have lots of details, techniques and embellishments while others (like this one) are simpler. Sometimes less is more. I fell in love with our dog Daytona instantly when I saw him at the SPCA in Williamsburg, Virginia, back in the spring of 2003. He was 5 months old when we adopted him and he has proven to be the best dog, protector and friend. He's now almost 7 and we couldn't imagine our life without him. He's the sweetest dog and has a wonderful personality.

Scrapbooking has always been a creative outlet for me. I can let my thoughts come alive through color and texture. I feel my projects are only limited by my imagination. When I experienced the loss of a dear pet a few months ago, I found my creative outlet also became great therapy. As I worked on this project I remembered the happy times shared with my dog. It made me smile to know that I was preserving these memories and even though I may still feel sad sometimes, I know that Higgins will never be forgotten.

I started scrapping because I wanted a hobby; I scrap now because it’s a way of life for me. I love making mess, using paints and inks and I always love to try new techniques. My layout Tom, features one of my favourite new techniques - covering Grungeboard to give it a leathery look.

Those of us who have dogs and cats as pets know that these furry creatures are far more than mousers and guardians for our homes. These animals become our solace in times of sadness, our comfort in times of stress and our source of daily joy. They are far more than just animals; they are our friends and valued members of our family.
