Would you like to jazz up your out-of-date embellishments? Looking for a sophisticated technique for summer pages? Tim Holtz from Ranger has created a wonderful new product - Adirondack Alcohol Inks. The inks are available in four sets: Farmer’s Market, Mountain Vineyard, Nature Walk and Rustic Lodge. A blending solution is available for diluting, mixing and removing color. Create an array of tints and shades by mixing and blending the various sets. These inks adhere to any non-porous surface, including metal, glass, vellum, glossy papers, etc., creating many options not possible with other inks. Since these inks can stain clothing, fingers and desktops, wear old clothing and rubber gloves, cleaning up spills immediately.

Making Memories has a new line of metal "molding" embellishments. However, all have a silver finish. With Adirondack Alcohol Inks, you can customize your corners and moldings for your layout. For the design below, paint denim alcohol inks on the strip. When dry, sand lightly to remove some ink, revealing the pattern.

You can also create custom backgrounds on clear media film. Apply denim alcohol inks to the clear paper, and apply blender solution, making wave patterns. The result is a watery texture perfect for stylish summer pages. For further decoration, stamp and emboss seashells throughout the background using platinum powder. For an interesting summer layout - create a page about your favorite beach books.

Do you have outdated embellishments such as larger brads and nailheads? Bring new life to these items with alcohol inks. Since this product works well on non-porous surfaces, it will instantly transform your plain brads into up-to-date and coordinating embellishments. Use raisin and espresso inks to create a rusty colored metal perfect for an "All-American" beach page. For a unique weathered appearance, cut a tag from sheet metal and paint with the inks. Before the ink dries, sprinkle with kosher salt. A mottled, weathered appearance results from the melting salts. Remove excess salt with a paint brush. For another unique look, try applying alphabet rub-ons to textured ribbon.

Alcohol inks may also be applied to glass surfaces such as microscope slides. The layout below includes a title created using slides painted with terra cotta inks. Use small glue dots in the corners for adhering slides to your page.

Apply alcohol inks to glossy paper for another modern, sophisticated look. Using several shades of blue and green and a foam brush, apply the inks in a wave pattern, creating a unique paper to enhance your theme. For a summery page title, die cut your letters from metal and paint with alcohol inks.

Using alcohol inks, you can also re-color letter stickers from Creative Imaginations. Clear Poemstones, when colored with ink, create a glossy, dimensional title. In addition, try painting metal charms. Although these accents come in a pewter or silver tone, alcohol inks transform them into a fun, versatile page accent.
