If you are ready to move on to more advanced techniques using color wash, try creating your own batik fabric. Start with plain muslin in the desired size. Then, using sticker shapes of your choice, place them randomly on the fabric. You can use stickers you no longer need, die cuts that have been run through a Xyron, or your own shapes. These stickers will mask the areas so they do not receive the dye. Make sure to press down evenly on the stickers so the color wash does not seep underneath. Spray the fabric with the color of your choice, and remove the stickers. If you wish, spray again lightly with another color for more splatter and splash. Allow your fabric to dry, and then trim the edges with pinking shears, if desired. The result is perfect for this cuddly Halloween layout.
