Stipple Shapes

This is a very easy border to do if you have a stipple paintbrush, stamp pad and heart shaped punch pieces (I used different sized heart punches). The first step in creating this border is to put a temporary adhesive on the back of all your heart shapes. Mount them on a 2" strip of white cardstock. Overlap some of the heart and have some hang off the edge. Use a stipple brush which is loosely bound bristles on a stick. Or, use a child's paintbrush. I usually cut the bristles of a child's paint brush half way. Pick two to three colors of ink that will blend well together. I used light pink, red, and purple. Using the red first, get some ink on the stipple brush and lightly tap it on your white paper. Next add the purple ink to the brush and a lightly tap the purple on the paper. Using the light pink, concentrate around the edges of the punched hearts. Let this dry. Remove the hearts. Using a cotton swab, touch the end on the purple stamp and add random dots to the strip. Mount the strip on pink and purple cardstock and the border is done. Try different shapes like flowers or stars (click here to see an example) and see what you can come up with. Don't limit this to just borders. It is also possible to make unique patterned paper with this technique.
