Creative Lettering
By Helen Naylor

Who loves to do lettering?  Raise your hand!  What, is that all?  Okay, fine.  Let’s see what we can do about that.  I personally love lettering, but it isn’t hard for me.  So what’s the hesitation?  It’s usually just a “block” on ideas.  So here are a few easy layouts.

Block letters are an easy way to give your page some pizzazz.  You can do the lettering on the block by hand, with stickers or with pre-cut letters.  I am using the term “block” loosely, but you can also put letters on hearts, flowers, shamrocks, eggs, flags, etc...

You can also use die cuts to accent your letters.  By placing the letters in the middle of the die cut or to the side, it can create a whole new look to your page.  Color is another way to experiment with different looks.

Don’t adhere the blocks until you’re happy.  You can be bold or soft.  The look you create is all up to you.

Just like with using a text box, if you make a booboo, you haven’t ruined your whole page.  If you don’t like how it looks, just put the pieces in your scrap bag and start over.  And that brings up another good point.  You can use up all those little bits you have acquired.  So get inspired and have fun!

Cupid's Arrow
Instructions

Cut ¼” off the top and one side of the purple checked paper, and mount on the red cardstock.  For blocks, cut 1 ½” by 11” strips and then cut off 1 ½” squares.  (I wasn’t sure about how many I would need of each color, so I just cut a few of each.)  I used the letters from Little Darlings, and because I didn’t get the whole alphabet in each color, I had to have a loose plan and adapt it to what letters I had available.  Mount the blocks and letters in a scattered format.  Mount the photo on black cardstock, then red cardstock.  Do journaling in a text block and embellish with purple and red hearts.
