Patterned Paper Frames
Patterned paper can be daunting. Sometimes it is just too busy and overwhelms the photos. And sometimes it is just too plain and isn't vibrant enough. If you like to use patterns but want to create quick layouts, here are two examples that allow you to use patterned paper. |

Supplies:
-
Patterned paper (Frances Meyer)
-
Cardstock (Making Memories)
-
Yellow opaque writer

Busy Bee Savannah
This bee patterned paper is perfect for these pictures of Savannah in her bee pajamas. However, it is just a little too busy when I add the photos
When working with patterned paper, create a strong focus on the main picture. In this example, the main photo is mounted in 3/8" bright yellow and then 1/2" on black. This not only draws your attention to the center picture but also allows the pattern in the paper to be embellishments rather that the focus.

When you do quick pages,
you don’t necessarily want them to look like they didn’t take any
time to do. So the trick is either to hoard products (like me!) or
think out exactly what you want to do while you are still at the store.
There is nothing more frustrating than to be missing a supply when you
go to do a page. Setting up how you’re going to do the page is
usually half the battle.
The first layout (Sariah) is an example of using a patterned stationary and an imprintable.
I cut out the inside dimensions of the imprintable with my Fiskars 12”
paper trimmer. Or you can mount it right on top, but
you may need to address how you will attach the photo on to the actually
page.

Remove the inside white
portion of the imprintable. Mount the photos to the “frame”
and then to the page. Add the printed die cuts and do your
journaling. There! You’re done!

Another way to do Pages
in a Pinch is to use two co-coordinating papers, and let the patterned
paper be your embellishment.

- Patterned background paper (Frances

- Accent paper ()
- Cardstock (Making Memories)
- Pens (Zig Twin Tip, EK Success)

Mount photo on white
cardstock, then on pink and white plaid. Mount to the page.
Make text box out of white, then mount on a piece of that pink and white
plaid. That’s all there is to it! |

Camping
Mount photo on dark green, then layer in the
following order in different border widths: birch, oatmeal and
corrugated green. Cut down the Camping Page Topper and mount on
dark green and then on oatmeal. Mount at the top of the page, then
the mounted photo below. Add a hand cut stick with “fire” on
the end and then add to the top of the photo. Do journaling on the
birch and dark green cardstock text box.
