Martha, Martha, Martha!  We all want to be like Martha!  We want to cook like Martha.  We want to entertain like Martha.  We want to be organized like Martha.  And those of us that are serious in our imitation of Martha’s style of living, can very easily carry it over to our style of doing scrapbook pages.  We have but to watch Martha or read Martha to get lots of ideas.  But where should I begin?

When I decided to do a Mostly Martha class at a local scrapbook store, response was overwhelming!  The class filled up immediately.  Martha’s ideas are simple and elegant, and not difficult to duplicate.  One of the details that defines “Martha”, are the color combinations that she uses. I picked up several paint chips from a local paint shop of colors that Martha had selected for use together.  There were some very unusual combinations.  I returned to the scrapbook store. Much to my surprise I discovered that they had many of the colors, either exactly or very close to the paint chips!  I gathered the colors, and then looked for ways to use them.  I pulled out a few copies of Martha Stewart Living, and searched them from cover to cover.

The first  layout consists of a picket fence and birdhouse (Layout #1) and the next is a brick house with window cutouts (Layout #2).  From the October issue, I did a page using the idea for the opaque candleholders, (Layout #3) just leaving the page flat.  From the December issue, I cut strips of paper and wove them to frame a wedding picture (Layout #4).  The possibilities are as endless as Martha’s good ideas.

On a quiet afternoon, snuggle up with a quilt, a cup of hot chocolate and a stack of past and present issues of Martha Stewart Living, and be inspired.  It’s a good thing!
