Making Memories

I
love vellum! I enjoy the
light, airy look. It gives a nice variation to your scrapbook pages.
You can print on it through your computer and make beautiful
invitations. Making
Memories has a great selection of assorted colors and patterns to choose
from. It works for
everything from angel wings to weddings, clouds to stars, bubbles to
tablecloths. Just about
anything you can think of. Click
here to view patterns.
Vellum
has at times had a bad reputation.
First, it is hard to use adhesive, since the vellum is so
transparent. With most products, you can see the product through the
vellum you use. However,
there are a few tricks that will make it easier.
1.
The best product for vellum is by Therm O Web.
The mounting adhesive will be completely invisible when the
vellum is attached to the layout. However,
You will need to cover the entire piece of vellum to avoid any seams.
2. When setting
up the layout, try and have a space where the vellum will be covered by
something else (ex. photo, die cut, etc.)
3. You can incorporate
the adhesive into the layout design.
If you are going to have swirls on the page, “write” on some
swirls with your glue pen to use as adhesive.
4. Try using Sticky
Dots (Therm O Web). I used
a row of Sticky Dots on the top of a margarita glass for the salt rim.
They will sometimes be less visible if you are using vellum with
patterns.
5. You can use the
adhesive backing of the Xyron for small bits of vellum, like
punch art. (I wouldn’t
use that for a whole page, though!)
6. When printing on the
computer, run it through so that the printing is done on the less shiny
side. The vellum will
absorb the ink better that way.
7. Another product that
works great is by Manco. The
product is called Easy Stick Roller.
Have
lots of vellum on hand. You never know when you’ll be in a vellum mood! |

-
Paper
trimmer (12” Personal Paper Trimmer, Fiskars)

Trim
vellum to 9 ½” X 8 ½”. Using
the filmstrip punch, punch along the bottom of the vellum.
Cut a thin strip of hunter and thread along the bottom.
Mount photo on white and then hunter cardstock.
Mount the photo to the vellum.
To make the pansy, punch two purple and one yellow trees.
Cut off the tree trunks, using a ripple cut.
Glue together. Using
a little purple chalk on a Q-Tip, pull short strokes from the inside out
to give the pansy dimension. Cut
a small yellow rippled circle for center of flower.
Hand cut buds and leaves, and punch a few swirls out of the green
for embellishing. Then turn
the vellum to the wrong side and place photo mounting squares to the
inside of the photo space and use a little glue pen behind flowers.
Mount to the page. Turn over and mount to the white base sheet of
cardstock. Do journaling.
